Web publishing / practical steps
Launch a business site with fewer loose ends
An independent Webflow content and launch workbook for structure, forms, redirects and handover.
STEP 01
Map the pages to customer tasks
List the questions a visitor needs answered: what you offer, who it is for, how it works and how to contact you. Give every page a purpose and a clear next step. Remove unsupported claims and sample content before polishing animation or decorative details.
STEP 02
Design reusable content carefully
Identify repeated content such as services, projects or articles, then define the required fields. Test long titles, missing optional images and empty collections. Keep a readable layout when an editor adds real content rather than a perfectly sized design example.
STEP 03
Check the whole enquiry path
Review labels, error messages, confirmation states and the destination of form submissions. Use non-sensitive test data. Confirm who receives an enquiry and what happens if a notification fails. A button that looks clickable is not evidence that the customer can complete the task.
STEP 04
Publish with a recovery plan
Review page titles, descriptions, canonical URLs, redirects and navigation on mobile and keyboard. Keep an inventory of domain settings and publishing access. Consult current Webflow documentation for feature behaviour and preserve a way to recover the previous release.
Choose the right next step
- Service site: prioritise clear offers, evidence and a working contact path.
- Content site: define collection ownership and editorial checks.
- Existing site migration: map old URLs to appropriate destinations before launch.
Worked example
A consultancy replaces three vague service pages with clearly scoped offers and one enquiry route. Before launch, a colleague navigates without a mouse and submits a test enquiry. The team checks the actual receipt and confirmation before marking the contact journey complete.
